We all know the ACLU hates anything that resembles religion, even memorials to war dead.
The ACLU has sued challenging the constitutionality of the concrete cross, which has been the center of the Mr. Soledad War Memorial since 1954. (Source: WorldNetDaily.com) They have also sued a supporter of said cross, Rick Roberts.
RICK ROBERTS SUED BY ACLU OVER MT. SOLEDAD CROSS
The ACLU seems to have a problem with a cross on top of the Mount Soledad war memorial in San Diego. They have sued one of its main supporters, Rick Roberts of KFMB talk radio.
“I have absolutely no intention of backing down or compromising in any way, shape, or form, on my position to protect the War Memorial and the Cross atop Mt. Soledad. Those heroes honored on that mountain fought for all of us and gave the ultimate sacrifice. I refuse to bend or waver in holding that piece of ground for them.” — Rick Roberts
But on Tuesday, the citizens of San Diego said STOP!!
SAN DIEGO – A ballot measure to preserve the Mount Soledad cross on public land in La Jolla easily surpassed the two-thirds support it needed for approval Tuesday night. But the voters’ decision on Proposition A won’t be the final word. The controversy heads back to court next month. Two court dates are scheduled in the next three weeks. A Superior Court judge will examine the ballot measure’s constitutionality Aug. 12, and a federal judge will hear cross-related arguments Aug. 15.
The proposition calls for the San Diego City Council to give the 29-foot cross, a concentric set of granite walls and the land around them to the U.S. Interior Department as a national veterans memorial.
Of course do you think the ACLU will stop? They don’t even think that voters have the right to make any kind of decision about it.
But ACLU attorney James McElroy insists the vote is meaningless.
“It still doesn’t mean a damn thing,” he said, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. “Voters should have never voted on it. It’s a waste of taxpayers’ money.”
It’s only a waste in the ACLU’s eyes when they loose. According to Mr. McElroy, what the people want is meaningless. Isn’t the ACLU suppose to be “FOR” the people? Oh wait, that’s right, I had a brain fart, they are only for the people when said people are criminals, illegal aliens and child molesters. Please forgive my momentary lapse in … clear thinking.
Never heard of the Mr. Soledad Cross? Let’s take a look.
It’s a Veterans Memorial.
- Six concentric walls will hold 3,200 black granite plaques purchased by donors and engraved with the names and photos of war veterans - currently more than 1,600 are in place.
- Each plaque ‘tells the story’ of a veteran’s military service for our country.
- Unique memorial that honors veterans - living and deceased - from all wars and conflicts.
- Includes U.S. Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine.
- Originally dedicated as Korean War Memorial.
- Large American Flag proudly flies over the Memorial.
- 23 bollards honor community and veteran organizations.
- Brick pavers honor veterans and supporters of Mt. Soledad.
- Privately owned site is open to public.
- Docents available on weekends.
I clearly believe the ACLU needs to get a fracking grip on reality. But if they did, what the heck would we blogburst about on Thursdays? Well, there is the loony left. Wait — they’re one in the same! Geez … we don’t ever have to worry about not having anything to blog about with the anti-american ACLU and the loony left around.

One day, there will be lawsuits to stop us from wearing crosses on chains around our necks. The American CIVIL LIBERTIES Union! They don’t have a drop of concern for my civil liberties.

Superior Effort!
Ironic how the ACLU is afraid to obide by the Will of the People.
