Redoubt,

That's great advise. Fortunately I haven't had to deal with trolls yet here. I have had one nasty comment and I did as you advised, I deleted it. Thankfully it hit the moderation que so no one else saw the vile stuff the person said.

Re: Blogging Tips

The blogsphere is full of pitfalls for the novice blogger because, unfortunately, we've taken this all a bit too seriously and created plenty of bumps in the road (read: protocols).

I have learned (and am still learning) the various customs and hazards. One has to do with Trackbacks. Bloggers get really touchy if you link back to their blogs without some mention of them in yours. Your experience (or lack thereof) is no excuse and you'll find yourself in hot water real quick by making your first mistake.

Then there are trolls.

One of the reasons I migrated away from web forums (message boards) was because of trolling. These butt-weevils can and will attack you by using your name, email address and blog URL to post nasty things on other blogs in your name. Then the offended come calling back to your site and deposit equally nasty comments and this creates a war that the Trolls love to watch. So, if someone comes and flames your blog, just ignore it. Delete it even. But don't go for revenge and create a show for the trolls.

Top of the day to all :)
