America Remembers
Monday, May 30, at 8 p.m. ET
America Remembers will pay tribute to the ideals of Memorial Day, 2005, by profiling patriotic individuals who died in service to their country. Most are people you’ve never heard of — ordinary folks thrust into extraordinary situations whose final sacrifice came on far flung battlefields like Omaha Beach in Normandy, Quag Tri Province in Vietnam, the streets of Fallujah in Iraq, and aboard ship in the Persian Gulf. Whether they died on an invasion beachhead, charging a machine gunner’s nest, or from a terrorist bomb, they’re all heroes. Their stories will be told by the family members, friends or comrades-in-arms who survive them.
Mark at Blogs for Bush has a wonderful post today:
Remember on this Memorial Day, 2005, those men and women who died. Remember that they went off to do our bidding in the hope that we would become better, freer people because of it. My hope is that everyone will remember and then rededicate themselves to the fight for human liberty in payment of our debt to the dead.

I think we all felt the need to post something special this weekend. Photo Friday gave me that opportunity, with the theme “Symbol”.
