WeekEND Wrap v16

Saturday, 25 April 2009, 8:00

As this posts, the SGM, Roscoe and I are headed to Anniston, AL to pick up the newest member of our family.   A rescue Cattle Dog named Cassie.  We actually found out last weekend, but we had to wait until today to pick-her up.

The shelter told us she would have to be spayed in their county, by a local vet, before we could bring her home.  We did not know this ahead of time.  The application states a certificate of spaying must be sent to the shelter within 30 days, but nothing more.  An appointment had already been made with our vet for just that.  Its wasn’t so much she would be so far away having major surgery, but not by our vet.  Then there is the concern of her traveling with a new family for two-&-half hours after surgery.  My heart sunk, but we were determined.  Our vet called, but couldn’t talk them into allowing us to take her out of the county.  Next best thing, our vet (amazing clinic really) found a vet in Anniston.  Yes they would take her if the shelter would bring her over.  Plans were coming together.

coffee2Tuesday evening Cassie was taken to the local vet and was scheduled for spaying on Wednesday morning.  On Wednesday the vet called me to let us know Cassie had arrived from the shelter and immediately received TWO baths!  The next news was a stomach crunch – she has heart worms.  I didn’t think.  “Start the treatment” came out of my mouth without thinking about it.  The vet said she’d call me after the surgery.  Later that afternoon she called and said, “I have good news, she’s already spayed”.  THUD.  So much for the shelter knowing anything about the animals they have uh?  So the vet boarded her for us, started her on the food we feed Roscoe and today we are moving to bring her home.  We are going to meet her for the first time today.  Roscoe has been told all week he’s getting a sister and he of course just looks at us with the silly dog grin he has.  As soon as I can, I’ll post pictures of the new family member.

A routine dental visit for a crown prep and cleaning turned into a minor surgery.  A tooth with a root canal had come loose and when he went to put in a bigger post, he found out the remaining tooth under the gum was cracked.  Out it came.  The tooth next to it had to have its crown removed so they could make a temporary cantilever bridge until I healed from the tooth pulling.  I go back in two weeks.  Then we will finish out the prep for a complete bridge and send off the specs to the teeth makers.  God – next time, can I have a few good ones please?  But thank you for my wonderful dentist you gave me!

Did you notice there was no WeekEND Wrap last weekend.  But you did read Trelania’s post about the Greensboro Tea Party right?  No?  tsk tsk … for shame!  Go read it now, we’ll wait.

Most of the week has been stressful, but today will be the blessings the come from making it through.  Each day God will give us no more than we can handle, just enough to make us stronger, and blessings in little packages.  Ours today comes in the form of four-legs and fur.

You all have a great day.  Keep us in your prayers as we are on the road.
