I think we have to view this in context to the basic foundations of this particular election.

To wit: Because Obama (or maybe moreso his campaign minions) had decided from the outset to make this vote a statement of race; that is exactly what we got and are getting.

I remember thinking that if Colin Powell were to have run, he would have been a good pick for millions regardless of race. He has a firm trust and foundation of support that stretches well beyond the race factor, and even the blue/red divide right from the start.

But, Obama did not. The race card is being played to make up for shortcomings that are otherwise being ignored. And if you hadn’t noticed, the reason most folks are afraid to criticize this water-walking candidate, is because they fear being labeled a racist. Adding to that fear, imagine yourself a black Colin Powell being labeled the same… in a twisted sort of way…

Unfortunately, it works all too well.

I read somewhere, and I cannot locate it right now, that Powell actually gave the max amount to the McCain camp early on.

But now I find this: <a href="http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/10/20/obama-make-powell-adviser-administration/" rel="nofollow">"Obama: I Would Make Powell an Adviser in My Administration"</a>

Guess Powell just bought himself a position uh?

Actually, I am surprised. While I am aware of many facets of Powell politics would make me not want to vote for him, race issues are not what makes him tick. (except for credit due when credit is due, ie Buffalo Soldiers) If you read this as I did, it is not an endorsement of Obama, it is a dis-endorsement of McCain. If he were a fan of Obama, for politics or race, he would have stated it earlier. I think, considering McCains long political career, that somewhere along the line McCain and Powell crossed swords and this is the price to be paid.
