Jo’s Texas Shadow Chaser – RIP
When Bubba went through his cancer treatments, we agreed if it came back, we would not put him through any more procedures. In recent weeks, although blood tests have come back negative, he contracted something wrong with his eye on the side of his head where the cancer initially was. The vet said something was pressing on his eye. He was put on steriods to reduce the swelling, which helped in the beginning.
But, when we tried to reduce the steriods, he went down hill from there. This is not the same dog he was a month ago. He has lost a lot of weight and control of his urination. Accidents were rare in the house, but we have found several spots in the house where he has gone to the bathroom. There is an obvious swelling to the head and he can’t shake his head or lets you to touch it. He would have to go through another invasive biopsy and we just aren’t going to put him through any more. They gave us 18 months after his initial treatment, it has been almost two years.
This was a very hard decision to make, but we can’t continue to keep him locked up 24 hours and watch him go down hill. We made a hard choice to not go forward with any further treatments and have let him go home to God.
Bubba … we love you. Go see Otis.

Oh Jo, I’m so sorry. The hardest thing in the world to do as a doggie parent is to make these sorts of decisions, but those decisions come from the purest places in our hearts.
Take care.

I am so very sorry to hear about Bubba, Jo. Decisions like that are never easy … they’re hard to make, and sometimes even harder to accept. You guys will be in our thoughts and prayers!

Aww, that’s so sad. It sounds like you did the right thing, though. My heart goes out to you.
