This is just a great feel-good story.
From WISinfo.com
Terry Lee Rucks likely doesn’t have nine lives, but thanks to his cat, Shaggy, he didn’t have to find out.
Rucks credits his four-legged friend for saving his life Friday morning when he began slipping into what could have become a diabetic coma.
He awoke shortly after 1 a.m. Friday to head to the bathroom when he began to feel the effects of low blood sugar.
“I was sitting down and just began to sweat profusely,” said Rucks, of Oshkosh. “I began to feel very shaky and nauseous.”
While he remained in fear of slipping into a diabetic coma and was unable to get up, Shaggy crept into the bathroom and spent about 20 minutes keeping him awake, Rucks said.
“He would not let me fall asleep,” the 61-year-old said. “He kept rubbing and pawing on my legs, and jumping on the vanity, meowing in my ear.”
One note from me, I keep glucose tablets everywhere in the house and mainly on the vanity in the bathroom off the masterbedroom. I’m so glad this all worked out for Mr. Rucks - but I would suggest to prevent this in the future, eat a small carb filled snack before going to bed and keep them glucose tablets handy!
