Phony Senators

What is more important to Senators, running the country or attacking a radio talk show host?

Evidently, the Senators voted in in 2006 believe their time, and our tax money, is better spent rattling on about something Rush Limbaugh supposedly said [because you know they have not listened to one second of what was actually said that day] and accusing him of using drugs again, than worrying about what it takes to keep this country safe and afloat.

“… last week, Rush Limbaugh went way over the line – and while we respect his right to say anything he likes, his unpatriotic comments cannot be ignored.

“During his show last Wednesday [Sept 26], Rush Limbaugh was engaged in one of his typical rants.  This rant was unremarkable and indistinguishable from his usual drivel, which has been steadily losing listeners for years – until he crossed that line by calling our men and women in uniform who oppose the war in Iraq ‘phony soldiers.’  This comment was so beyond the pale of decency that it cannot be left alone.  And yet, he followed it up with denials and an attack on Congressman Jack Murtha, a 37-year active member of the Marine Corps.

“Yet Rush Limbaugh took it upon himself to attack the courage and character of those fighting and dying for him and for all of us.  Rush Limbaugh got himself a deferment from serving when he was a young man.  He never served in uniform.  He never saw in person the extreme difficulty of maintaining peace in a foreign country engaged in civil war.   Yet he thinks that his opinion on the war is worth more than those who are on the front lines.

Then there is Sen. Tom Harkin (Democrat-Iowa) … who the hell does he think he is accusing someone of being on drugs?  Lord - the way he was talking, you’d think he needed more drugs because his brain is clearly unbalanced!

In a speech blasting Limbaugh for his “phony soldiers” comment, Harkin concluded, “Well, I don’t know, maybe he (Limbaugh) was just high on his drugs again. I don’t know whether he was or not. If so, he ought to let us know, but that shouldn’t be an excuse.

Three years ago, Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) introduced an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2005 Defense Authorization bill, calling on American Forces Radio and Television Service to provide “political balance” in its public affairs programming.

It was part of a liberal effort — spearheaded by Media Matters for America — to remove Rush Limbaugh’s radio show from taxpayer-funded Armed Forces Radio.

Remember — Reid and his ilk are the same people who refused to denounce MoveOn.org and their “Betray Us” ad … so why do they think they all of a sudden care about the soldiers and what is being said about them, even taken out of context?

Harry Reid — you are a sham. You a sham as a human being, a sham as a senator and a sham as an American citizen.

I am ashamed to even know that you respresent this country in the face of our allies and enemies.

I still stand with Rush.

  1. Yeah, I had to release some steam on this, too. What a joke. I’m glad Rush is fighting back. I think the Republicans have been to passive for too long.

Now tonight I saw a commercial by VetVote, the anti-war group of veterans, do a spot about Rush. Blech.

  2. I listen to Rush most days, flipping between him and Laura Ingraham, and I heard this exchange and knew exactly what was being talked about. Since my senator is republican, I know I don’t have to email him my feelings on this.
