Vick Out – The Animal World Sighs

Will Football Be Ruined?

I do not believe so.  Yes the actions of one person can taint an industry, but smart people who follow whatever sport may be involved understand that football was/is Vick’s job – he was part of a whole.   The whole has cut away the bad part, for now, to keep the viability of it alive.

Would this horrid event be such a big deal if at the helm of it was Joe Blow from Anytown, USA?  Yes – it would be a big deal, because for the most part, Americans love their pets, but I doubt I could have sat here for the last four hours and every 4th story be about it.

Football will survive – as did baseball and basketball.

What Vick’s arrest has done is shown a brighter light on the sickness that some people have when it comes to the “family pet.”  Anyone that has had, or currently has, pets are mortified with the extent of these events surrounding Vick – but we also know in our hearts there are those that have fought dogs for centuries and it will not stop.  It will get pushed further underground, such as with cock fighting, but it won’t stop.

Unfortunately what it does do is bring out another bad mark on pitbulls, leaving the breed with another mark on it, no matter how much some in the dogging world does their best to teach us these dogs aren’t bad – the owners are.

I am not stupid enough to live in a PETA world believing that all animals are cared for like the SGM(R) and I care for our two.  Little did Roscoe know how good he was getting it when we plucked him from his mother’s box and drove him 3 hours home.

Some people, for some reason only god can explain, never learn to appreciate the unconditional love pets give us.

I feel sorry for Vick, as he chose to harm instead of love.  What does this say about a man that can abuse a defenseless creature that I firmly believe god put on this earth for us to take care of?  Not much.  He has a tainted soul that we all should pray is renewed somehow.  But as a man, Vick will never be whole.  He appears to not be taking full responsibility for his actions either.  Very sad this person is, very said.   I pity him actually.

Football will live on.  The Atlanta Falcons will move forward, because they are a team of good men at best.

… but news brings out more horried events surrounding dogs.
