“Gore Aid”

Build concert stages and they will come.  “Live Earth” “Gore Aid” was going on this weekend if you hadn’t heard already.   Supposedly, in the pattern of “Farm Aid“, the concerts were to bring attention to the damage we are doing to Mother Earth.  A problem with “LE” ”GA” is none of the performers road horses or walked to these events.  Therefore, they had to use some type of fuel powered vehicle.  Hmmm … isn’t that part of the problem?

Daily Mail (ht: Wizbang):

The most conservative assessment of the flights being taken by its superstars is that they are flying an extraordinary 222,623.63 miles between them to get to the various concerts – nearly nine times the circumference of the world. The true environmental cost, as they transport their technicians, dancers and support staff, is likely to be far higher.

The total carbon footprint of the event, taking into account the artists’ and spectators’ travel to the concert, and the energy consumption on the day, is likely to be at least 31,500 tonnes of carbon emissions, according to John Buckley of Carbonfootprint.com, who specialises in such calculations.

Throw in the television audience and it comes to a staggering 74,500 tonnes. In comparison, the average Briton produces ten tonnes in a year.
Live Earth is promoting green to save the planet – what planet are they on?

Remember this children: If the Liberals do it, no matter the cause, it is just. But let a republican be at the forefront of it, the liberals will do everything they can to stop it. Al Gore and the ilk he has spawned are hypocrites — period.  Wasn’t it in the 70s we had fear of global cooling?  My head hurts.

* Hubby was pissed to no end that the Boneyard had ”Gore Aid” on this Saturday.  I won’t tell you how blue the air got in the jeep.  Thankfully we had KISS in the CD player.

Mix well and allow it to warm on your back porch under hot summer sunlight until foaming over the top. Add music, seasoning to taste.

I watched for the musical acts, otherwise the whole thing wrung of smugness. I will say, yes, I have switched to CFL bulbs, but darn if it doesn’t mean less bulb changing. Add in I am the tallest person in the house, and responsible for all bulb changes, I am 100% okay with that
