Martin Army Hospital

Personal Grade from Jo on the services at this hospital on Fort Benning:  -F

But then I’m not a spouse that can sit around all day waiting to get a script filled while the pharmacy techs go to lunch for 2 hours; I can’t change my appointment on a wink and a nod to the next day “after” I arrive for my original scheduled one just because the people are too lazy to call me; I can’t stomach seeing a different doctor each time I go there – one who might be just out of med school, or one fixing to retire, either way they suck.

U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss toured Martin Army yesterday, giving it the once over.  Of course we all know that the bad stuff was hidden in the dishwashers on each floor, and the people with issues about their shotty treatment were probably shuffled to off-post doctors for the day; but either way, he didn’t find a building “18″ here.   At least that’s what the 13th Street Rag claims.

U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss didn’t uncover a “Building 18″ while touring the Martin Army Community Hospital complex Monday morning.

The Republican congressman from Moultrie insisted that a white glove inspection of Fort Benning’s medical facility was not the reason for his visit, nor was it prompted by the recent scandal at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

“One building up there (in Washington) had a problem,” Chambliss said. “But there’s never been a question that Walter Reed has always delivered the best medical care our soldiers have needed.”

So why here and why now?

“The health care of our soldiers, especially those coming back from theater, is very important to me,” he said. “Col. (Margaret) Rivera was a great host and I can tell you this — the hospital is second to none.”

With the Senate on recess this week, Chambliss found time to visit Kodak Polychrome Graphics early in the morning, stop at Benning to tour the hospital and talk Base Realignment and Closure project progress with Maj. Gen. Walter Wojdakowski and head for an afternoon appointment in Newnan.

Not surprisingly, Chambliss, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, claimed the expected presidential veto of the long-delayed passage of a supplemental appropriations bill by Congress could have a dramatic effect not only on BRAC funding, but on our troops in Iraq as well.
