Kim over at Simply Kimberly here asked about Proactive. I posted a comment and then got to thinking I could have wrote more. By the time I got done working it in my head, I figured I’d put it here.
Guys — turn away, boring stuff ahead.
The worst part about having oily skin and a T-Zone that over-reacts to everything is that your skin takes a beating all day. My best advice: wash with a non-harsh cleanser and most importantly moisturize.
I highly recommend that if you want to try the mentioned products in this post, buy them from QVC so if after 30 days you don’t like them, you can send them back.
I use a combination of Philosophy and Proactive for my skin care. Purity, from Philosophy, is for cleansing and is non-harsh. You don’t need a toner afterward and your face is clean and not dry. You don’t want to strip all the oils out of your skin without replacing them, so depending on what time of day, I use Proactive Repair Creme or Philosophy Hope in a Jar after washing my face. Repair Creme in the morning before my make-up and Hope in a Jar after removing my make-up at night.
Another part of skin care that is important is the make-up you use. Over a year ago I went from a liquid base to a powder. This works much better for my skin than a liquid that clogs the pores, no matter how much you wash, and slides off you face by noon.
I use Bare Escentuals Make-Up. Recently I have tried Philosophy’s powder make-up because of the way it is put on, but either one works great. The best part of Bare Escentuals is that is it pure minerals and doesn’t clog pores as soon as it is put on. It takes a bit of practice to put on, but once you get the hang of it for your needs, its really very easy. It is so clean, that you can sleep in it. Not recommended, but there are days I get home just don’t bother washing my face and I don’t have zitsville in the morning. When I do do that, I was using Proactive’s cleanser.
Remember to clean your brushes once a month with mild soap. I use Philosophy’s Purity on mine. Change your mascara out every 3 months and throw old stuff away you don’t use after 6 months. However, if you do go totally Bare Escentials or Philosophy for make-up, they keep for a long time.
Enjoy!
Note: If these links fail, please go to QVCs main site and go under the Beauty tab and look for each’s section on the left side.

I use proactiv, too! Mack cosmetics, except for foundation, which is also proactiv. I can’t believe what a difference it has made in my skin.
I use Philosophy and Bare Escentials, too. They are the only brands I put on my face anymore. You’re right to recommend QVC - they have the best deals for both lines of product that I’ve seen.
Thanks for the review. I just received my Bare Escentuals in the mail the other day and I am loving every minute of it. Although, I think I need to go a shade lighter which is no big deal. They make it very easy to do on their site. Thanks for the tips on Philosphy too - I have always wanted to try them but was too afraid of the $$$ of it. But now that I have tried Bare Escentuals I know I can’t go back now! TOtally worth the money. I’m with ya! Oh, and yes, I have very oily skin so you got my attention when you stated that fact about yourself too.
Proactiv just beat my skin up…acne was worse than before I started using it.
I use plain ‘ol Cetaphil to wash my face every day…but I do also use this fabulous thing from Dermologica…it’s a “daily exfoliant.” Made out of rice so it’s gentle.
Your results may vary.
I do use the Bare Escentuals makeup…started using that about 18 months ago. Was up late one night when the husband was gone, and the infomercial sucked me in.
