Hurry Up and Wait
The SGM has been working on the sequel to Planes, Trains and Automobiles – at least I’m sure that is how he feels since he called me and said he’d gotten out of Afghanistan early and was hoping to be home by Thursday.
Ha — Ha — Ha
Here it is Friday morning and he’s STILL in Bishkek, Kyrgezstan! This was his e-mail this morning:
Just did roll call (again) and the weather is still too shitty (go figure). Heater went tits up in the tent just after midnight and we got a new one put in by 0300, it was balls cold by the time the new one got fired up. As of now, the next roll call is 2000, lift at midnight, and we hit BWI at 1100 (EST) on Saturday morning.
The Air Farce Master Sergeant that does the roll call asked if anyone in the pax terminal wanted to hang him, and I don’t think he really expected the reaction he got, LOL! He actually backed up a few feet when all of us moved in his direction (about 200 of us). Will call you later on today.
Hurry – Up – And – Wait.
The Army Motto.
Update: Flight has been pushed back “another” 24 hours — due to weather. The poor Pax Terminal guy is putting up heat-round deflectors. 200 grunts wanna go home. Someone please!!!

It’s great to hear he’s on his way home to you. At least he’s trying to and is out of Afghanstan!
I like the new look of the blog!
