Oversight???

Harry Reid is “warning” us….

Even as he pledged a new era of bipartisanship, the Senate’s top Democrat warned Republicans on Friday to be prepared for new investigations and oversight of the Bush administration.

I just did a search of the Consitution (here) and was *so* suprised not to get a hit on the word “oversight”.

Where in the Consitution does it give Congress oversight of the Executive Branch?

Yes, I paid attention in US History class — I understand that the three primary branches of goverment (Executive, Legislative, Judiciary) have been given specific powers designed to allow them to “check and balance” each other, so that no one branch has significantly more power than the others.  Obviously, we’re not using that too well or the Judiciary wouldn’t have the ability to rewrite and write laws.  Still, I do understand that Congress has a role in monitoring the President as well as the Courts.  But “oversight”?  Congress is not the lead branch here, and it is not the President’s management team.

When are we going to start demanding that our government do what the Constitution SAYS it should do????
