I believe the MSM has a condition that must make their skin turn to dust, ala vampire to the sun, if they print good news.

So, let’s see what they missed:

- MND-B Soliders detain 9 terrorists, seize weapons: BAGHDAD – Iraqi Army and Multi-National Division – Baghdad Soldiers detained nine suspected terrorists in Baghdad Thursday.  Patrols from 4th Battalion, 1st Brigade, 4th Iraqi Army Division, supported by Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, conducted combined combat operations, detained six terrorists and seized weapons in Tarmiya, north of Baghdad, at approximately 3:30 a.m. Thursday.  The IA soldiers, along with Soldiers from Company B and the Scout Platoon from 1st Bn., 66th AR, searched 60 houses and the Honest Mohammad Mosque. The combined forces seized three AK-47 assault rifles, a home-made grenade and anti-Coalition propaganda. The IA soldiers entered the mosque as the MND-B Soldiers cordoned the area.

One of the terrorists carried a cellular phone with video showing attacks on Coalition Forces and was carrying $1,850.

- Iraqi police discover large weapons cache with local help: (Yeah, they really hate us): RAMADI, Iraq – Ramadi Police of the Al Jazeera IP Station, working together with concerned citizens, discovered multiple explosives and weapons Wednesday.  On a tip from residents, the Iraqi Police investigated reports of an unexploded object. The investigation revealed more than expected.  The police found multiple munitions that could have been used to harm the local residents and Iraqi Security Forces.  CPT Herbert Flather of Task Force 1-6 Infantry, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, is partnered with the Iraqi Police that found the multiple caches.

“Iraqi police and local leaders have a strong relationship in their community. The local residents do a great job obtaining information about suspected caches and are sharing it with the IPs.”

Thursday the Al Jazeera IP, with the assistance of Task Force 1-6, uncovered one of the largest caches found in Ar Ramadi since the Ready First Combat Team took charge of the area in June.  The cache was comprised of one 62mm Mortar bipod, eight 155mm projectiles, fifteen 130mm projectiles, forty-three 122mm projectiles, one hundred-seven 82mm mortar rounds, fifteen 62mm mortar rounds, six AP land mines, nine cans of artillery propellant, two IEDs, one suicide vest, five hundred blocks of TNT, over 1000ft of detonation cord, two gas masks, two hundred blasting caps, four M81 initiators, six RPG boosters, two rockets of unknown caliber, one 100mm HEAT projectile, two RPG rounds, one bag of mortar charges, four bags of artillery charges, five TNT initiators, sixty Italian VS-50 landmine primers, twenty-two anti handling devices on stakes, and one machete.

- Air Strikes Thwart Terrorist Ambushes: BAGHDAD, Iraq — Coalition aircraft thwarted two separate terrorist ambushes as ground forces moved toward their objective early Sunday morning near Balad.

Coalition Forces encountered terrorist activity on two separate occasions along their travel route. After positive identification of the enemy by ground forces and with assistance from Iraqi Police, coalition aircraft engaged the targets with precision fires, killing four terrorists in one engagement and in conjunction with ground forces killed an estimated 13 others in a subsequent engagement along the same route.

Armed with RPGs, machineguns and AK47’s, the terrorists were planning to ambush the Coalition ground force. The plan did not succeed. No Coalition Forces were injured during the attack.

- Afghanistan Celebrates Opening of Command and General Staff College: KABUL , Afghanistan – The Afghan Command and General Staff College held a ceremony Oct. 28 marking the start of the first class to attend this school meant for generals in the Afghan National Police and Afghan National Army.

“Over the next six months you will participate in the first ever Senior Command and Staff College offered by the Afghan National Army,” said Maj. Gen.  Robert Durbin, Commanding General, Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan, speaking to the students.  “You will increase your effectiveness by improving your knowledge about the art and science of leadership and command.”
