Hiram man, 27, accused of raping girl multiple times

A 27-year-old man was charged with the rape of a 12-year-old girl Saturday at a Victory Drive motel, Columbus [Georgia] police said.

Steven Dean Blevins, of Hiram is accused of raping the girl on multiple occasions and may have been the boyfriend of the alleged victim’s mother, Police Sgt. Frank Massa said.

Blevins also was charged with making terroristic threats, a felony, for threatening to kill a witness during an argument at the motel, Massa said. The witness’ name was not released.

Police answered a disturbance call about 1 a.m. Saturday at the motel at 4300 Victory Drive, where the girl accused Blevins, Police Sgt. Rick McMahan said.

The suspect was too intoxicated at the time to be interviewed, McMahan said, and had a pocketknife on him.

Police believe the alleged rapes occurred in more than one jurisdiction, and the girl told police the most recent incident took place on or around July 22 at the Victory Drive motel, McMahan said.

Blevins is being held without bond in the Muscogee County Jail for an 8 a.m. Monday hearing in Recorder’s Court.
