Some diabetes complications unchanged in 30 years
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - No change has been seen in the last three decades in the occurrence of some serious complications of type 1 diabetes, such as heart disease and retina damage, new research from a US-based study suggests.

Insulin-Free Diabetes Treatment Found
Professor Koo Seung-hoi of the Molecular Therapy Research Center at College of Medicine in Sungkyunkwan University, announced on Tuesday that the team examined a protein, called PTP-MEG2, that regulates blood sugar levels through experiments using mice.

Georgia (USA) to provide incentives to diabetes doctors
Georgia will provide bonuses to doctors who care for state employees with diabetes, state officials said. The incentive pay announcement for doctors who care for diabetes patients in the State Health Benefit Plan was made Friday by Gov. Sonny Perdue. Doctors who can provide diabetes patients preventive medical services can save money while delivering better care, Perdue said. The state plan covers 640,000 state employees and teacher as well as their dependents and retirees.
