Did Jack make it out of the explosion alive?
With Bierko?
Are we going to loose another 24 character?
Only the show will tell us.
As we open the show, everyone at CTU is frozen after hearing the explosion. Jack? Where are you Jack? Curtis do you see Jack? JACK!!?
Audrey’s on the link to Curtis. Where is Jack? Curtis is searching the area. Minimal trace agent in the air after the explosion. Hayes looks like she needs a bathroom. Curtis looks on as a figure comes out of the smoke. It’s our hero with Beirko in the fireman’s carry. Get an ambulance. Beirko is in shock – take him to CTU medical.
Jack calls Bill. What is the status on Henderson? I know Henderson – he’s willing to let his wife die for someone powerful. I think this is bigger than anything we could imagine.
The VP is on the phone complaining about the CTU. Go figure. Hayes tells him CTU is still working on leads. The VP wants Hayes to take over. Hayes doesn’t want to because of the lives that were just saved. Scumbag assistant wants to take Bill down, show how he screwed up. Use Audrey. Make up a statement, present it to her.
Audrey and Bill talk about HL taking over. Audrey doesn’t agree, they can’t do that after what you’ve accomplished today. Henderson is still at large and CTU is working on the investigation. The Vice President wants them to take over. Why? (Cause he wants to take Logan down and get the Oval Office for himself. Duh!)
Aaron at the ranch with Wayne Palmer, not doing so good all jammed up in the back of that SUV. Isn’t that where the groceries go? We need to get you looked at. Not enough time. Why were those men trying to kill you? Because David had a source in the Whitehouse and they were trying to stop me. Martha’s assistant, Evelyn.
Evelyn gives Martha some letters and looks nervous and wants to leave. She meets up with Wayne Palmer and Aaron. Aaron stops her from leaving. They go into a room to talk. You were sending e-mails to my brother, why? You know what I’m talking about. I need to know what you told David. Evelyn is stressed. I have to go. Talk to me. I can’t. They have my little girl (Frackin’ assholes). They will give Amy back to me if I gave them the evidence. I have proof of why everything has happened. Aaron tells her they’ll kill her and her daughter because she knows too much. I’ll give you the evidence I have if you get back my daughter. Great, Jack is going to be on a little girl hunt now.
CTU continues hunting for Henderson. Jim Hill from HL comes in with a pile of people to take over. Some blonde tells Chloe she’s taking over her station. Hayes tells everyone that CTU is being absorbed by HLS. Everyone is stunned — and fired. Scumbag assistance takes Audrey into a briefing room.
Wayne calls Jack. He tells Jack what Evelyn told him, and that she has evidence. Her daughter has been kidnapped. They are going to call the people, Jack wants in on the call. They set up a meet in 20 minutes.
Audrey going over the statement that scumbag came up with. Audrey says she won’t sign it. Scumbag keeps on her about if CTU had been working effectively, none of what went wrong would have happened. He goes into her part of the process of the events of the day. It would be a shame that CTU’s mistakes would destroy you Audrey. Sign it and none of the fallout will happen to you, but remain on Bill. She looks at it and tells him, “I’m proud of what we did here today. The people are heroes, especially Bill – this take over is unwarranted and I won’t help you justify it.” Good going girl!
Jack calls her and explains about Evelyn. Audrey tells Jack about the HL take over and everyone being fired, including Chloe. Hayes is taking orders from the VP. Jack puts it together – Henderson is protecting someone, possibly the VP. They need Chloe.
Scumbag still wants to try and get people to sign the statement about Bill. Audrey comes in Hayes’ office and tells them she’ll sign the statement; in order to keep anything from reflecting badly on her father. One condition - She wants Chloe reassigned to her. She’s not doing this to screw Bill, but work with Jack. Audrey signs the statement. Sometimes the End does Juistify the means.
Henderson is leaving for the presidential retreat. Henderson has Evelyn’s Amy.
Audrey is sick to her stomach. Evelyn goes to her car and Aaron and Wayne are leaving. They run into the VP. Wayne hides his injured hand. Aaron tells the VP that Wayne came there to bring Aaron something from David. Oh puke, the VP is trying to be comforting to Wayne. He wants Wayne to stay, but he gets out of it with the ol’ I have plane to catch story.
Chloe’s station is taken over. She goes to see Bill. Bill doesn’t know he’s been stabbed in the back. He tells Chloe to stay focused. Everyone else was fired. Scumbag assistant tells Chloe to go back to work; she got a pass because of Audrey. Bill is stunned about the statement. Audrey admits signing the statement. Chloe looks ill.
Evelyn and Wayne and are driving to the location. Why did you call David? He was a wonderful man, I knew him. He and the first lady were friends. I told him this information because I trusted him - I never thought it would get him killed. Her cell phone rings. Wayne gets Jack on the phone and patches him in. Henderson questions her about why Palmer was at the retreat. She tells him she didn’t know he was there. Do you have what we discussed? Yes, let me talk to Amy. She tells Amy to be brave. Henderson takes the phone back and gives her an address. Jack hangs up and calls Audrey. Our hero is very distressed over this situation. He gives her the address to have Chloe do a satellite sweep. Chloe doesn’t want anything to do with her, but she tells her it’s for Jack. Audrey explains.
At the barn, Wayne and Evelyn wait. A car arrives. They hide. Jack comes in the back door. Jack promises Evelyn they’ll get her daughter back. Here we go with the promises again. She won’t give up the evidence until they have her daughter back. He calls Audrey. Chloe tells him she can’t believe the VP is involved. There are 10 men at the location. She downloads to his PDA. Jack is going to go with Evelyn. Wayne wants to go too. He won’t let Wayne go out of respect for David – his family needs him. These are the people that killed my brother Jack; and he died in my arms. Could you just walk away? Good one Wayne.
Logan and his slimy smile talking on the phone. The VP comes in and Logan is crowing like a peacock. The VP asks him if he knew Wayne was there. Why wouldn’t Wayne talk to you? Ill feelings; David and I didn’t get along. I don’t think the VP is really too comfortable with Wayne having been there – maybe because he had his brother killed?
Jack, Evelyn and Wayne arrive at the plant. They have a plan. Jack reminds her they are going to get Amy back. Chloe is on the satellite and directing them where to go in the plant.
The plant looks like the one Kim was held at in Season 1 minus the water. Henderson asks his people if they see Evelyn. Wayne and Jack in the bowels of the plant. Jack 1, Guards 0. He tells Wayne to take out a guard so he can get up top and take out the sniper. Jack 2, Guards 0. Come on Wayne, use that Marine training. SHOOT! SHOOT! Wayne 1, Guards 0. (3 Guards out of 10 down) He tells Jack it’s clear and Jack moves out. Jack 3, Guards 0. Jack gets the sniper’s radio and tells Henderson that Evelyn has arrived alone. Jack takes up the sniper position. Jack gives directions to Chloe and Palmer. Henderson calls Evelyn and tells her to open all the doors and the trunk of the SUV. Drop the keys on the ground. Henderson comes out with the girl. Jack sees them. Give me Amy, I give you the evidence. Henderson sends Amy to her mother. Jack and Wayne shoot. Henderson gets in the SUV. Jack chases. Wayne shoots. Evelyn has been hit. Chloe is trying to track Henderson. Who is behind this Evelyn? Is it the Vice President? Henderson is talking to someone that sounds like Mike. OMG it’s the PRESIDENT!!!

I had thought it was the VEEP all along, myself! Darn writers - they sure know how to pull the rug out, don’t they? Well, can’t be so sure I trust the VEEP either - he’s been acting so, well, weasel-like. But maybe he knows about the Prez and has been doing a little investigating himself? NAH…heck, I dunno maybe? ;-)
Gawd - can’t help but love this show! It’s hard to wait until next week!

I really can’t believe that idiot of a president could do anything himself. bad idea for the writers to all of a sudden make him this evil genius. But then again, maybe the writers got the idea from our own president. who would believe this idiot would be responsible for fighting 2 wars, bankrupting our country while making it look like the VP is the one pulling the strings? too bad we don’t have a Jack Bauer looking after us!!

Early on I suspected that it could be President Logan but then the conversation with Cummings and some of the scenes with his wife made me rethink my assessment. Still, I wasn’t completely shocked, because they already did the whole “coup inside the Administration” and “president’s people betrayed him” storyline in season 2. I knew the only way they could do something really different and shocking was to have the traitor be the president himself. Still, a lot of the earlier episodes don’t make sense in light of this new development…maybe they will by the time the season is over.
