Andi has a post here about how you can help an orphanage in Afghanistan.
[An Army] LTC also tells me that pads of paper and pencils, crayons, coloring books, etc. are all appreciated. He says the kids there love to write and draw but that supplies are scarce.
I asked hubby when he first got there if an orphanage was in the area and how I could send stuff, but now I know.
Don’t forget, you will have to do customs forms on the box. I would suggest as you pack the box(es), write it all down on a piece of paper before you start filling out the form. The form is small and I found the best way to put all that’s in the box on it is by using a typewriter.
Also, check the box that says “gift” and “Return to Sender” just in case. They send my packages parcel post and take approximately 3 weeks to get there.
