RSS Feed Help
I notice a lot of fellow bloggers with feed reader icons on their blogs, ie: Add to My Yahoo!, My AOL, Feed Burner, etc. Now I’ve had a commenter ask me about getting my RSS feed in e-mail. This is one part of blogging I’ve never really dug into learning about, because why would anyone want to read my feed? Well, evidently someone does.
Now — I really don’t want to put a whole lot of extra buttons on the site, I have enough already. So what to do? I mean the RSS link is there at the bottom of the side bar, shouldn’t someone wanting to read it simply click on that link, copy the URL and dump it in their feed reader?
Or am I just missing the boat completely and still standing on the dock?
Any suggestions?

RSS feeds are pretty easy to use, and don’t involve any extra buttons on your site. I actually use an RSS feed to check for updates to your site.
There are many ways to do it, but here is how I do it.
I use Firefox 1.5, which can be downloaded for free at getfirefox.com. Under bookmarks, I created a new folder I titled “blogs.” To add a blog to my list, I just click on the orange icon in the address bar. It will ask me where I want to add the live bookmarks too. I add it to my blog folder. Then I can just scroll down the list of blogs and see what the most recent entry was. I do the same for news stories.

Wow! Thank you for the information Megan … now I won’t have to run my blog roll the old fashioned way! And I can add feeds that I wouldn’t put on my blog roll. TY!

Jo, Take a close look at the comment as well. I’ve been getting half a dozen like it a day, and they’re all spam.
To your original question, you don’t need to add any extra buttons, it’s just a way to make what the link at the bottom provides a little more visible.

No he’s not saying that, he was indicating the part in my post about the person asking me for RSS in e-mail .. .evidently that person is a spammer ..
