Violent Rage and Quiet Anger

Saturday, 4 February 2006, 18:25

Two different responses we’ve seen this week to political cartoons around the world.

In the first, the Muslims were offended by cartoons ran by a Danish newspaper.

In the second, the Joint Chiefs of Staff were offend by a cartoon by an Anti-American, anti-Bush, anti-war artist.

In the first, the Muslims burned and rioted in the streets of their respective countries.

In the second, a letter was written by the Joint Chiefs of Staff to the newspaper running the offending cartoon.

In the first, the Muslims are still rioting and burning buildings.

In the second, nothing more has been said by the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The difference?

Good Upbringing.

It says a lot about someone, none of it good, that a cartoon can justify violence and calls for murder.

My view is that those who define themselves by the Islamic faith have a serious problem. These folks can comfortably accept homicide bombers and 9.11-type terrorist attacks on innocent civilians… but then run amok, rioting over a cartoon? Puhleese!

I know no Muslims, personally, but my perspective of them has changed with each passing year from being a religion of family and peace… to one of assault and crime.

I apologize if this offends anyone but the actions in question do not require special glasses to understand.
