Correction -- I'd rather have the OPTION to work from home. If I was home 24/7, I'd go nuts ;)

I'm with you both. My job may not be great, but I am respected, get a decent pay and manage my own time (within reason). My company, while large, offers good benefits, etc. I'd rather work from home (anyone know a place where a good, technically minded analyst could do that?) and I'd rather have a better management team, but it's a pretty good deal all-in-all.

It's funny...after a string of jobs where I would come home, literally, and cry every night (think of how fun that was for us as newlyweds!), I am in a job that allows me to work from the comfort of my own home, set my own hours (within reason) and work with people I've known for nearly ten years.

My co-workers share these same benefits.

Nevertheless...some of my coworkers *still* complain...about whatever they can complain about... petty things like requirements changes, or last- minute tasks. You bet it's annoying but in the grand scheme of things, I'd rather do that crap here than in some cube farm where Mr. Middle Manager is peering over my cube wall with his coffee cup saying, "Yeahhhhhhhh...I'm gonna need you to come in Sunday, too. Yeahhhhhh."

My opinion now is, was, and always will be...if you're so unhappy in your job that you start looking for stupid things to be upset about, leave and get out. It can be done. Then again, there are people who are too scared to leave, and enjoy the angst and drama because that's all they've got going on.

But, I hear you. I may not love (love my husband, really like my job, LOL) my job, but it's certainly the best one I've had in the last six years...and for that I'm very grateful.
