So, I’m sure everyone has seen this story, and this one, and this one.

First of all — this little shopper was sound ass asleep about the time all this was going on. Yes, I love to shop, but I’m not putting my life and limb on the line for anyone, even hubby. Now people are going to blame the store for lack of security, and I’m sure there are lawyers lining up to make a fast buck too; but who really is to blame? The stores or the shoppers?

I say both.

Shoppers with the pack mentality of a goat have to take some of the responsibilty. Then again, I saw a lot of ads saying “get the best bargains between 5am and 10 am” and “the first 300 shoppers get an extra 10%”. This just perpetuates the mob mentality. Some people just can’t resist a bargain and ads like this trigger some switch in the brain that makes them get up at 3:30 am and move out into the herd.

Okay - we all want to save a few bucks and get little Johnny that $300 to $400 gaming system, but is it worth the cost of a hospital stay that prevents you from doing any more shopping?

I don’t think so.

Black Friday shouldn’t end up being “black and blue” Friday.

How do we stop it? Hell, as soon as we figure out how to stop a hurricane we can work on the herd/mob mentality of Black Friday.

I’ll stick with on-line shopping thank you. I hate crowds anyway.
