It’s a Mass…

Thursday, 3 November 2005, 7:33

Otis has a “mass” in his right (left if you’re facing him) sinus cavity.

Good news: It has not encroached on the brain or the bone.

Bad news: There is no surgical option available, but radiation will shrink it.

We won’t know for a few days the results of the biopsy, but either way, it looks like Otis is going to be spending some time with the Vet students at Auburn University.

When I picked him up last night, they showed me his Cat Scan and you can see the mass in his sinus cavity. Now I know why the poor boy can’t breath!! He was stoned off his ass when I got there, so he was very quiet on the 45 minute drive back from the hospital.

Did I cry when I found out? Nope — I actually laughed. We’ve been there done this with Bubba. It was great to meet some of the students and doctors that knew Bubba and they were asking about him. So when we take Otis back for his radiation treatments, we’re going to take Bubba and show them how well he’s doing.

Maybe that’s why I’m not scared — Bubba is doing so great after his treatment and we know what to expect. However, Otis is 13 years old, where Bubba is only 7. But they are both tough and through our love we will get him through this.

Thank you God for giving us Otis and Bubba to take care of. We will do our very best and put him in your hands. If he should need to go home to you, all I ask is he goes in his sleep and does not suffer.

I wish you all the best, and it’s good that you know what to expect… So very true, the way love heals.
