Late!
Not sure about this Sergeant Major (SM) stuff.
First day out, his cell phone gave up the ghost. $54 later, we have him a new phone and thankfully the SIM chip didn’t loose everything, ie: his 300 entries (I swear) in his contacts list.
Second day out (today) no communication except for when I called his “work” cell phone to tell him about getting him his new one (see above), and he was in the mess hall. Sounded like he was in this huge barrel with someone banging on it. I think it was all the people talking and the silverware. Then he had to work late because of a hot-ex (some dog and pony show for high mucky mucks) and of course mother nature got all pissed off or something and decided to dump on them rain wise. He’s home, soaked to the skin.
And, don’t let me ever get started on his 3 months worth of stuff on the calendar they sent home with him :?
Oh well .. could be worse — he could be in another country.

“Then he had to work late because of a hot-ex (some dog and pony show for high mucky mucks)…”
—– I think that these are the bane of every enlisted soldier: drop everything that you SHOULD be doing to do things that you normally DON’T do in case the general stops by.
“And, don’t let me ever get started on his 3 months worth of stuff on the calendar they sent home with him.”
—– The way I look at it, it’s better to leave as much as possible in the hands of the NCOs. If you let the officers handle it, Lord only knows what might happen!
