Ask America
I received in the mail today a 2005 Nationwide Policy Survey paid for by the National Republican Congressional Committee (www.nrcc.org)
The first part is a Survey Certification and Reply, where they ask you to sign that the answers are your own. Then they ask for financial support.
The areas of questions are:
War on Terrorism
Homeland Security
Economy
Social Security/Medicare
Health Care
Education
National Defense
Foreign Affairs
Immigration
Supreme Court/Federal Courts
Federal Government
General Issues
The President and Congress
The last section is the only one where you can provide Additional Comments in your own words.
The questions range from “Do you agree that a top priority should be making President Bush’s $1.3 trillion tax cut permanent?” to “Are you please with the quality of health care you currently receive?
They also ask you if you want a copy of the results mailed or e-mailed to you. I chose to ask them to mail them to me.
I have not heard of the NRCC before so tripped on over to their website and clicked on About NRCC.
The NRCC’s origins date back to 1866, when the Republican caucuses of the House and Senate formed a “Congressional Committee.” Today, the NRCC is organized under Section 527 of the Internal Revenue Code. It supports the election of Republicans to the House through direct financial contributions to candidates and Republican Party organizations; technical and research assistance to Republican candidates and Party organizations; voter registration, education and turnout programs; and other Party-building activities.
Their goal is to keep the Republican majority in the US House of Representatives.
It’s a very informative website and I spent a great deal of time there reading up on the organization.
Now I can’t wait to find out the results of everyone elses answers compared to mine. I’m going to make a copy of it before I mail it out. I have to send it in before the 27th of June, so have no clue when they’ll get the information out on the results, but I will post them when they do!

I also received a copy of the ASK AMERICA 2005 nationwide Policy Survey. Six months later I still have not received a copy of the results. It seems clear to me that the NRCC never had any intention of sending the results. Perhaps they didn’t like the answers they were receiving from the participants. I also suspect they never tallied the results since the “survey” was merely a fundraiser.
