Survivor Palau has a winner: Tom Westman

Thirty-nine days, twenty Survivors, two tribes, dozens of lies, a laid-down torch, an incredible winning streak and finally, one Sole Survivor. Tom Westman, the 41-year-old NYC firefighter from Sayville, New York, dominated the Challenges and proved a major force around camp to secure the Jury vote that named him Sole Survivor and winner of the $1 million prize. Shamelessly displaying his strength from the beginning, Tom neither hid who he was nor deceived any of his tribemates on his way to becoming Sole Survivor.

Hubby and I were in total shock after Ian gave up the chance at the million to regain Tom and Katie’s trust — saying it was more important than the money. Yet - there is a lack of integrity in this world, and this was refreshing.

This was the best Survivor since the 1st one in my opinion. And it had many firsts.

First time a whole team lost every immunity challange.
First time there was a team of 1 (Stephanie).
First time there was an imprompto TC at a challange (where Ian gave up to let Tom and Katie go for it).

It was a good season — now on to Guatemala
