Doctor’s Appointment Monday 01/10/05
No – it was not good at all. First – I tested yesterday morning, with a reading of 292. When I got to the doctor’s office, they checked with their meter and it was 134, and I had my meter with me and we checked it against theirs with the same drop of blood and it read 278 – a 144 point difference. We assumed it was the battery. I went to the store that evening and got a new battery.
I got home, changed the battery and took another reading. It was 283. We went to WalMart and got their meter and test strips and went home. I tested with a 265!! So I know damn well it wasn’t my meter, it had to be his.
I got up this morning and tested with both meters, got a 293 on the Accu-Chek and a 254 on the ReliOn (WalMart Brand). I called the doctor and left a message for him that 2 meters now didn’t match his meter’s results. I got a VM from them when I got back from lunch and the doctor told me to increase my Avandia from 4 mg a day to 8 mg a day. I just tested when I got home – the Accu-Check said 333 and the ReliOn said 310 / I did another test right away and got two different results: 298 and 267 respectively! This is beyond real.
I don’t know what’s going on and maybe I should go to a specialist – but the main “god†endo in town I’ve been to and I refuse to see him. He treats his patients like dirt under his shoe and reminds you “he’s the doctor and you shouldn’t read anything about this condition as I know it all.â€
I do have an appointment with the surgeon on Thursday to get my gall bladder removal scheduled. I am of the opinion that the stress from that organ not working isn’t helping my blood glucose levels at all.
I’m totally frustrated with this whole situation now. I shouldn’t have to test back to back and get two different results. So either I’m doing something wrong; or the meters are lemons.
I’m going to do more research and I have an e-mail off to the company that makes the Accu-Chek why I’m getting two different readings one minute apart!
