On December 20, 2004 I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes

This has come as a shock to everyone, including me. I didn’t see the signs, one being rapid weight loss. I was just simple enjoying the loss of the massive amount of weight I was carrying around – which I attributed to my Thyroid Condition. Going from a size 14 to a size 10 within a year was great, but then it kept on going down. In November, I went from a size 10 to an 8 and then a 6 within a 4 week time period.

I am also dealing with a gall bladder condition. I had three very painful attacks, and had to go in for a sonogram to check for gall stones. No stones were found, so onto another scan to determine if the gall bladder was even working. I was diagnosed with Acalculous Cholecystitis – which means the gall bladder is not functioning. If it was not causing me any pain, we’d leave it in, but since it is – and I’m living on pain killers – it will have to be removed. But we can’t have it taken out until my Blood Glocose level gets down to at least 150.

So we have to deal with the diabetes first before we can take care of the gall bladder. So I am testing twice a day and taking Avandia. Doc has me on 4mgs a day in the morning.

I also have to start exercising. Which really seems odd to me because I think excersing to loose weight and I don’t have to do that. But it’s to help flush the sugar out of my system. Thankfully there are several good websites out there that have given me a lot of information to use. I will also have to go to diabetes classes so I can learn how to deal with all this.
